One in three employees has gone to work hungover and more than one in 10 employees has been drunk on the job, according to a survey by Norwich Union Healthcare. Workers in media and creative jobs were most likely to come to work still drunk (41 percent), followed by those in the construction industry (24 percent), professional and business services (23 percent), and information technology (15 percent). "It's the jobs where there is most stress -- long hours, high expectations, short-term contracts and bad management -- where you get the most excessive drinking," Cary Cooper, professor of Organizational Psychology and Health at Lancaster University, said. "Employers need to change the culture of long hours. More flexible working is needed and employers need to offer more healthy options such as more working from home."
