Compliance Issues Still a Priority

Finance departments' compliance requirements and performance objectives frequently clash, according to a recent KPMG survey of Canadian senior executives. Seventy-three percent of executives believe that company growth and profitability has dropped because of the resources expended on compliance. The respondents also reported that there were more resources allocated to compliance than to other equally important areas such as management reporting, forecasting, corporate finance, risk management and strategic planning. The good news is that 57 percent of leaders think they are well prepared for meeting compliance needs.
